WHAT TO DO:

Choose a favourite poem, song or story (or part thereof).

Now, start thinking creatively. Make a list of anything that comes to mind that might help depict this written piece in pictures. Cut your list down a bit, to just your favourite ideas, if it gets too big.

Next, grab your camera and get to work. A digital camera is best for this, as it will allow you to take lots of photos, from which you can choose, and also the photos will be available instantly for you to access.

Take pictures to fit your ideas. You can take photos for various different ideas to illustrate a point, and choose what you think is best later, if you like.

Once back from your photographic expedition, sort your photos, and choose the ones you are going to use.

You now need to decide how you are going to display this work.

Some ideas:

• A PowerPoint type presentation of the words and their appropriate pictures, on your computer
• A large poster with the words and photos
• A scrapbook, with a photo and a few words per page
• Photos with the words put across them using an appropriate image editing program, then printed out.

Now, try writing your own poem or story and illustrating this with photos.
